Every launch needs its own uniqueness and flare!
This is what Perfect Events created for the opening of Market Lane at The District Docklands on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th November 2019. Working with grand indoor and outdoor spaces, the launch of Market Lane gave attendees music, food and interactive activities.
Our inspiration came from using our five senses which are all fully immersed when in a market environment. We wanted to create an experience where attendees could see, smell, hear, touch and taste everything that Market Lane has to offer. What better way to do this than by creating a 7m interactive green wall!
The journey that guests took along the wall gave them the experience to see the journey of Market Lane being constructed, from just a car park to an amazing open oasis of retail and food outlets. Attendees smelt the different elements of the fresh market food, spices and herbs, all of which were available from different retailers. Hearing the sounds of people in a market; offering, selling and buying from all of the different vendors. The element of surprise, no other sense than touch and ones bravery, guests put their hands into the unknown dark box to feel what was inside (don’t worry it was nothing dangerous!). Lastly taste, through the help of retailers, we had all of the flavors that the fresh food at Market Lane had to offer, it was perfectly delicious!
Other event aspects saw the talented Emma Dean, one the amazing MasterChef Australia Winners, show the crowds how to cook and bake many easy and tasty recipes. Crowds were able to interact with Emma, asking questions and tasting all the delicious treats she made across the weekend.
Out on Waterfront Way for all to enjoy, roads were closed, grass was laid and the bright District Docklands yellow café tables were set. Perfect Events created many zones for all attendees to enjoy which included; the Kids Zone proudly sponsored by Chipmunks Playland and Café with face painting, grass head making, garden games, nail art by Lux Beauty Bar and workshops by Melbourne City Rooftop Honey. Saturday brought live music from the talented individuals and duos to the stage for incredible performances, followed by community and school groups on Sunday.
Just like with any event, everyone loves a freebie! The District Docklands created a promotional offer which let shoppers taking away a branded ‘The District Docklands’ trolley, which resulted in lines through Market Lane and even around the corner!
Perfect Events love working with their clients to create a unique experience, and seeing it all come together is a proud and satisfying moment. From the initial concept to seeing the finished product, this event was a huge success and we could not be more proud of everyone involved!
